Fall is Here!

Fall is in the air here at Fifty Shades of Green Acres – so we’re seeing lots of orange, red, and gold, in addition to the green.

Last week, Mr. Fifty Shades and I decided to sign up for another 25 year hitch together.  To celebrate, we embarked on a road trip.  We gave the chicks plenty of water and feed, took Sage and Scout to the veterinarian, and left Nutmeg to revel in the fact that she had the whole house to herself.  Then, we took off to Charlottesville, Virginia.  What a great trip!  We toured Monticello on a beautiful, sunny day…

….it’s an interesting and impressive place.

We also went to an apple orchard …which had spectacular views…

…I hope you can see the couple taking a selfie toward the bottom of the picture below…so cute.

On our way back to the car, we spotted this little one (with a topknot like Pebbles Flintstone!) who reminded us of another sweet little girl we knew just a few years ago…well, the truth is that little girl is all grown up now, but, it sure does seem like a few years…

We enjoyed lots of great food – the Indian and Thai were our favorites – cuisines we don’t get to indulge in where we are located.

We had a wonderful few days and we were all happy to get home. On the way back, Sage decided that even though there was plenty of room in the back seat, it would be fun to sit on top of Scout – it just seemed like a good thing to do.

When we returned, we were happy to see one of the last signs of summer – a few tomatoes on the vines…

...and the beginnings of the fall harvest – lots of pears starting to ripen.

Until next time,

Fifty Shades of Green Acres
