Since our last visit…

It’s been a while since our last post.  But, that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.  Our garden produced some tasty treats for us during the last part of  summer…

Beautiful blueberries (169 are featured below – just in case you were wondering how many)…

Red Okra (with the flower as lovely as the okra tastes)…

Sweet Strawberries…

Green Peppers…

…and lots of peas….

…if you come by for a visit, we’ll put you to work helping us shell these…

In other news, we found a praying mantis keeping an eye on our new deck…

….and grasshoppers are quite the attraction.  Some believe they make fine appetizers, after dinner snacks, or a great treat at any time of the day…

Our hen population is down to four – one of our girls went bye-bye (of natural causes, not in the stew pot!).  The remaining crew plus Murphy, the rooster, seem to be carrying on just fine…

In fact, an egg laying milestone has just been passed here at 50 Shades of Green Acres.  Yes, indeed – 1001 eggs as of yesterday!  Woo Hoo!!!   Go Little Hens!!!

Although we are about to savor the last sign of summer

The Final Tomato!

The Final Tomato!

..fall’s appearance is welcome.  We are enjoying the cooler temperatures (it was 32 when we woke up yesterday and the sun did its magic, warming us up to 64) and the change in colors…

…and, we’re looking forward to harvesting our pears…

Of course, just in case you were wondering, Mr. Fifty Shades began a new project…

More on that later (promise).

Until next time,

Fifty Shades of Green Acres
